Training Fund FAQs
- Why is the maximum age limit for applying for support 25 and under?
- Who is the training fund for?
The training fund has been launched to capture the requirements of young people who do not need to undertake a full-time college course or an apprenticeship to enhance their skills. SCBF recognise that not all training requires full-time study but that a one-off accredited training course may help with employment opportunities.
- What type of training can I apply for funding for?
You can apply for any vocational or accredited training course where this will improve your employment prospects or enhance your existing skills.
- How much can I apply for and what costs can I claim for?
You can apply for up to 50% of the total cost up to a maximum of £1,000. Eligible costs include,
- The cost of the accredited training course
- Travel and accommodation costs for attending the course
- Equipment required for the course, i.e. books
Statutory workplace courses will not be supported as it is expected that your employer will pay for these.
Please contact SCBF with any queries or concerns you may have, and we will be more than happy to help.
